C.J. Whelan for Centennial City Council, District 4

Homegrown Leadership!

I’m excited to be a candidate for Centennial City Council, District 4. Having lived in what is now Centennial for most of my life, I care passionately about our city. I have a long history of serving our community, and I am now ready to step up to the challenge of representing you on City Council.

My Vision for Centennial

We need to continue to have a safe city. Ranking as the safest city in Colorado for eight straight years is a reflection of this value, and maintaining that means a continued strong partnership with Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office and Cunningham Fire Protection District.

I firmly believe in a fiscally sound city. Our tax dollars are precious and need to be treated as such. I see no need to raise any of Centennial’s taxes or fees and will fight for the maximum value from our city services, whether provided internally or contracted.

We need to keep a focus on our aging infrastructure, simply put, that is mostly roads, roads, and roads! Centennial's economic development has had some impressive gains in our city’s short life but needs a continued focus as that growth is the lifeblood of our city.

Why C.J.?

I am a business owner and serial entrepreneur. I believe in efficient government. I am an engineer with two degrees from M.I.T. (electrical engineering and business finance). That analytical and solutions-oriented discipline gives me a no nonsense approach to problem solving. My background in community leadership is extensive, including currently serving as President of the Cunningham Fire Protection District Board (a publicly elected position), former President and current Treasurer of my HOA, service on a number of city committees (currently on the Budget Committee), and more. In short, I work hard for our community, and know with your vote that I will continue to do so.
